This painting is inspired from a late afternoon photo taken from Mattei's Tavern's wisteria-laden front porch. The Storeys They Tell #1 (#1 in a series of three) 2021
Pastel on sanded paper
SOLD
These scenes were of a very old stairwell in an old building in Chicago. Very narrow and mysterious. It was quite beautiful with well-worn stone steps and iron railings. It looked like it would have had a starring role in a gangster movie.

Our Tree 2021
Pastel on sanded paper, Derwent Inktense blocks, gesso
15 x 19 NFS
This is our special tree, my husband and I. It's on a hilltop in Solvang, CA, where we spent our honeymoon. It seems as if it's clinging to that hill for dear life. We see it as a metaphor for our union: perseverance through whatever winds may blow.

Beaver Island Marsh 2021

13.5x10.5 $1300
I attended an art retreat at Beaver Island in 2018. This marsh was on the west end of the island. I love the sun patterns. The purple shadows were gorgeous, and the water was a beautiful turquoise. It was a lovely day.

I just couldn't concentrate.

A little ditty of a local lake in the summer. Love the reflections and colors.

Blue Door 2021

A rock entrance to an old fort on the coast of ME. I love the transitions of color between light and shadow; the jumbled texture of the rocks; the sun on the foliage above.

Lighthouse on a Knoll 2019
Pastel on sanded paper

On a schooner outing in ME, this island knoll had a well-maintained lighthouse perched on it. The rocks were strewn on the shore. The scene looked so serene, yet chaotic.

Shipwreck Rocks 2019
Pastel on sanded paper
19x16, $900
Famous shipwreck shore in ME. Many ships lost their cargo and crew here. I love the blocky shape of the boulders. The contrast between dark shadow and bright sunlight were what drew me to this scene.

Plate with Avocado & Blood Oranges 2019
Pastel on sanded paper
17x16, $650
Playing around in studio. I love blood oranges - to eat and for their color! I decided to contrast such saturated color with the dark green of the avocado. I'm very happy with the realism here, especially the avocado. The plate was handmade by a friend.

Red Bicycle 2018
SOLD
This was done from a photo I took on Beaver Island in Lake MI. It was a pretty vignette of a patio on the main street. The background was a dock with boats that was distracting, so I simplified it.

Galesburg Window 2018
SOLD
I attended a painting workshop in 2018 in Galesburg, MI, at a local farm with a lovely, old farmhouse on the property. This window was around the back, and at this angle, I saw the window within the window. It was fun to do the bricks, and I like the effect of leaving some of the paper showing, creating its own pattern.

Sammy 2018
