Agora Gallery Representation!

Hello! I’m beginning a blog here for anyone that may be interested in my work. I will be publishing videos of my work and marketing snippets that show my process and exhibits.

To begin with, the most exciting thing to happen to me recently is the accepted representation by Agora Gallery in Chelsea, New York City! I have a show planned for July 26 through August 18. Five of my pieces will be in the exhibit: “Martini, Looks of Love, Spring Leaf, Art Class,” and  “Where the Buoys Are.” I will be traveling to NYC for the Opening Reception on August 4. This is a dream come true for me. One of my goals as a REAL artist was to see my work in a REAL gallery, and in New York no less! I made it!

I have tasks to do before I get there though. Now that I know which paintings are going to be shown, I can start researching the best way to ship five paintings to NY. I’m thinking I can get three paintings into one large Airfloat box and two others in another large Airfloat box, and ship them both via UPS. Now I just need to find the deadline delivery date to the gallery.

I finished the challenging commission of my first portrait, “Mila at the Opera” for a family relative. I’m very pleased with how it came out. I had to do some research and practice sketches for this one. I haven’t tackled portraits of people before. I convinced myself that I couldn’t draw people. Guess I can in a way. I’ve seen much better portraits of course, but for me, it’s the best work I’ve done in a while. I hope she is pleased. Need to send that one off too.

In the next few weeks, I’ll be returning to studio in Vicksburg, complete the bleeding hearts painting I’m working on now, and getting ready to go to NY!
